Norbert Izer has served as Managing Director responsible for Financial Markets and Digitalization at the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) since March 2025. Previously, he spent twelve years as a tax advisor at PwC, before joining the Ministry of Finance in 2016 as Deputy State Secretary and subsequently leading its tax affairs area as State Secretary from 2018 to 2024. In his current role at the central bank, he promotes the digital and AI-driven transformation of the financial sector, as well as the safe and responsible use of emerging technologies. He believes that artificial intelligence can be an effective “co-pilot,” but it should never replace human decision-making and accountability.
