Prof. Dr. Charaf Hassan is the Rector of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME). An electrical engineer, engineer-economist, and Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (DSc), he earned his engineering degree from BME in 1992 and has since become an internationally recognized expert in software engineering. He is a strong advocate for the practical application of information technology and a driving force behind collaboration between industry and higher education. Committed to innovation-driven and student-centered engineering education, he has played a key role in establishing numerous international partnerships and joint academic programs. Among the first to introduce mobile application development into university curricula, he has also initiated and led several international research and development projects in the field of mobile technologies. Throughout his academic, research, and teaching career, Prof. Hassan has consistently bridged cutting-edge research with real-world industrial challenges while inspiring new generations of engineers. He has led numerous software development projects in collaboration with organizations ranging from small and medium-sized enterprises to Hungary's largest IT companies and international partners, helping to equip students with the skills and experience needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving digital world.
