A neurobiologist and Medical Director of SYNLAB Hungary Ltd., his area of expertise is sports and preventive diagnostics. He has been working with athletes, including Olympians, for more than 15 years. Together with his professional team, he has collaborated with renowned athletes such as Katinka Hosszú, Áron Szilágyi, and Michelle Gulyás. Over the course of his career, he has contributed to the laboratory diagnostics and sports nutrition preparation of more than 400 elite and Olympic athletes. He has worked with numerous sports organizations, including the Hungarian Olympic Committee, the Hungarian Coaches Association, and nearly 30 Olympic sports federations. He currently serves as a member of the Hungarian Olympic Committee’s Sports and Sport Science Council. He is also active as a speaker, having delivered more than 300 hours of lectures at both domestic and international venues. He has given hundreds of presentations, podcasts, and studio and radio interviews in Hungary, Germany, Estonia, Brazil, Turkey, Israel, Romania, Switzerland, and India. His professional knowledge is further demonstrated by his publications, including co-authorship of the articles High-Resolution Dynamics of Hemodilution After Exercise-Related Hemoconcentration and Exercise-Related Hemoconcentration and Hemodilution in Hydrated and Dehydrated Athletes. He earned his postgraduate diploma in sports nutrition science from the International Olympic Committee, and holds two MSc degrees from the Faculty of Science at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in Biology and General Physics. Máté’s passions include travel, science communication, and nature photography. He especially enjoys going into the forest at dawn with his dog to track and photograph deer.
