György Csepeli

professor emeritus

György Csepeli, professor emeritus at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), was born in 1946 in Budapest. He earned his degree in Russian and Psychology at ELTE, where he also worked from 1972 to 2016. He has been a Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences since 1992. Between 1989 and 2016, he served as a visiting professor or researcher at several U.S. universities, including UCLA, Ohio State University, Michigan State University, the New School of Social Research, Yale, and Montclair State University. His research focuses on the social psychology of intergroup relations, national identity, antisemitism, anti-Roma sentiments, and conflict resolution. He has participated in several EU FP7 projects addressing discrimination and European identity. In recent years, his interests have turned toward examining the economic and social impacts of the information society, Big Data, and artificial intelligence.
