Balázs Rózsa

Dr. Balázs Rózsa pursued two university degrees in parallel. He earned his summa cum laude medical degree from Semmelweis University in 1999, followed by a degree in physics from Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in 2001. In 2007, he received his summa cum laude PhD in neuroscience. Since 2002, he has been actively involved in research at the HUN-REN Institute of Experimental Medicine (KOKI). Between 2005 and 2008, he was a member of the team developing two-photon microscopes, and from 2008, he became the leader of the team developing three-dimensional two-photon microscopy. In 2005, he founded Femtonics Ltd., a company focused on microscope development. Since 2010, he has led the Multiphoton Research Group at Pázmány Péter Catholic University (PPKE ITK) and has worked at the Two-Photon Imaging Center at KOKI, where he has been the head of the Neuronal Network and Dendritic Activity Research Group since 2016. In 2021, in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Botond Roska and the Hungarian State, he co-founded the BrainVisionCenter Research Institute and Competence Center, marking a major milestone in his research career. The institute's primary goal is the development of new therapeutic and diagnostic devices, especially in the field of neurobiology. He has published dozens of national and international scientific papers in prestigious journals such as Science, Nature Methods, and Nature. He has given nearly fifty international presentations, and the microscopes he developed are used in over 150 renowned laboratories worldwide, including institutions such as Yale, Harvard, MIT, and Columbia University.
