Prof. Dr. László Palkovics
Government Commissioner for Artificial Intelligence
Prof. Dr. László Palkovics is the Government Commissioner responsible for Artificial Intelligence in Hungary. He previously served as Minister of Innovation and Technology (2018–2022), and later as Minister of Technology and Industry (2022). With a background in mechanical engineering, he has held prominent positions in both academia and industry — including at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, the Institute for Computer Science and Control (SZTAKI) of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and the Knorr-Bremse company. His professional focus lies in innovation policy, higher education, and industrial R&D. He played a key role in developing Hungary’s national AI strategy and promoting technological modernization. His engineering and innovation achievements have earned him numerous prestigious awards, including the Széchenyi Prize and the Gábor Dénes Prize.
