Gergely Kovács has been engaged in the development of digital military technology solutions and artificial intelligence-based systems for over a decade. His experience as a commercial and demonstration pilot led him towards simulation-based learning, VR and MR technologies, as well as AI-driven military solutions.
After completing his doctoral studies at the Military Technical Doctoral School, his research has focused on exploring the military applications of digital twins, metaverse-based training, and adaptive, AI-based self-learning systems. For his achievements in XR technologies and sustainable environmental protection — particularly in the application of digital twins — he was awarded the Officer's Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit.
As the head of VIKI's XR developments, he leads the development of numerous pioneering research projects. He participates in the SAAB XR program and is a member of the European Defence Agency's Future Soldier System (FSS) working group, where the next generation of XR- and AI-based military systems are being shaped. He also gives lectures on these topics at several universities in Hungary and across Europe.
